This blog chronicles a Region 15 student and his teacher as they participated in National History Day's institute for teachers and students. In June 2013, fifteen student/teacher teams are engaging in a rigorous study of D-Day and World War II, bringing them to historic sites in Washington DC and Paris/Normandy, France.

June 22: La Fiere
The next stop today was at La Fiere, where the American gliders landed to block the Germans from getting to Utah Beach. The Germans had flooded the fields anticipating this, making it harder on the Americans. It was a hard fight, but the Americans prevailed and held the bridge until the troops made it up.
